Yup.

posting good fortunes in a bloggy environment can seem egotistical...

but it can stem from a genuine desire to share good news with friends:

though my first day of work is yet to be determined, i believe that an hour ago i was unofficially hired to be an assistant to the editor of the BC HockeyNow weekly paper.

the original plan for a part-time job of publisher's assistant didnt work out, for whatever reason, but the publisher has hooked me up with this way-better and way-more-relevant job.

my job is to lighten the load for the editor and basically save valuable time by compiling stats, finding out who's big on what junior team, keeping up to date with press releases, editing stories, working in Qwark for layouts and formatting (which is rad cause they're going to train me and I'll also be learning the program at Langara in the Fall, if i get in...which i will), and just helping the editor with whatever is needed.

turns out the editor went through the same 1-year Langara journalism school that I'm hoping to get in to, so this seems like a marvelous fit.

so...extremely stoked and thankful about all this.
